Day 18-19: Oslo
Warning: no photos from the ‘good’ cameras..
We arrived in Oslo in the evening, the plan being to stay
overnight with a quick shower, some supper and a sleep before our early flight
up to Tromsø.
Our hosts were questie Eline and roommates Tine and Lisa. We
were treated to some pizza and a glass of wine, which turned into 2 glasses,
which of course resulted in 4 empty bottles of wine, a round of 100 proof vodka
shots and plans to meet up at a bar with the other half of our European menace
crew. On a Tuesday night no less.
Convinced by the others, we made our way to Oslo’s answer to
Caxton St’s venerable Casablanca – multicultural crowd and music included.
A
steep cover charge prevented the whole crew coming in, but we still managed to
tear up the dance floor in classy Caucasian style.
Amongst other blurry memories, we recall Eline finding a
taste for soap (strict parents and swear words anyone?) and a quick but
wholesome meet up and final goodbye with Goudha, Tonje and Aureo.
We arrived home in the wee hours, kebabs in hand, and
managed half an hour sleep between us before the adrenaline charged pandemonium
that only an upcoming flight and unpacked suitcase can induce.
Alas, in that abyss of pain and confusion between blotto and
hungover, we made it through security and on to our flight. We barely made the
runway before we’d both collapsed in a loud and possibly frightening slumber,
betraying our vision of listening to glorious Scandinavian music and watching
sunrise over fjords from 30 thousand feet on our way to the northern lights.
Whatever, it was an awesome night!
